Week of October 28th
Last week students had their novel test on The Giver and submitted their Word Collage Art Response. On Friday, students were introduced to the format of a five body paragraph essay. In math, we continued with our unit on Fractions. They had their three sessions of X Dance and I am sure have learned some new moves for them to bust out at our Halloween Dance.
Here is what is coming up next week:
Language
-students will begin to work on their essay for The Giver
-they will create a thesis statement and support it with three body paragraphs
-a graphic organizer will be provided for the layout of the essay
-final essay will be due on Monday, November 11th
Wednesday, October 30th: The Giver Movie
-students can show up to school in their pajamas for our Giver Breakfast buffet
-each student has signed up to bring in one item for the feast
Math
-continue with word problems involving adding and subtracting paragraphs
-learn how to multiply and divide fractions
-convert improper fractions to mixed numbers and put in lowest terms
Math Test: Monday, November 4th
Halloween Parade: Thursday, October 31st Period 1 (9:00-9:20)
-if it is raining the parade will take place in the hallway on the first floor
Halloween Middle School Dance: Thursday, October 31st (PM)
-tickets will be on sale Tuesday and Wednesday ($5)
